Author Update: September 2025
Today, I have some exciting news to share with you. I plan to resume work on my magical realism rewrite in November and will be launching a new Early Reader Experience to coincide with this effort.
In my March update, I wrote about how I was dealing with minor allergy-related health issues during the winter and wasn’t sleeping well. The good news is that I'm doing much better, and my sleep schedule is finally back to normal.
The bad news is that I have a backlog of work after being a zombie for five months. While I'm slowly catching up, I haven't had the headspace to write a lot of updates or posts for my ongoing series, Beyond The Book. I was hoping to get back into the writing groove over the summer. However, given that I will be traveling during July, it’s more realistic that I will resume my regular publishing schedule in the fall. So stay tuned. I’ve got some great articles in the works that I can’t wait to share with you.
In May, I appeared on the When They Were Young Podcast hosted by Lanise Antoine Shelley. On the show, Lanise interviews adoptees but with a twist. Instead of focusing on their adoption story, she asks them about their work and passions, believing there is more to an adoptee than their adoption story.
During our conversation, we talked about my dyslexia and the coping mechanisms I've developed. Joseph Campbell's Heroes Journey, the complexities of reuniting with his biological family, and what it means to be “Disappeared.” I had a wonderful time on her show, and I hope you give it a listen.
You can find the episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Lanise's Website.
Next month, my wife and I are finally going on our honeymoon after putting it off for two years due to the pandemic. That means there will be no author update for July and, most likely, none for August. As I mentioned above, I aim to return to my regular publishing schedule in September, so until then, I hope you have a wonderful summer.
Sincerely,
Nelson/Roberto
